Are you tired of the basic boring ghar ka khana and want to try something different? Well, we have got you covered. House of Wok chef’s special Som Tam Salad can give you the much-needed palate change as well as provide you with the required nutrition.

Guess what, even vegans can try this recipe by changing only limited ingredients. House of Wok is a popular Pan-Asian food chain known for its authentic and diverse flavours and what could be better than a special recipe from their chef itself?

The ingredients, measurements and steps are mentioned below. You need to diligently follow it and voila, your salad will be ready in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients:

For the salad:

· 1 small green papaya (about 450 grams), grated

· 2 cups shredded carrots (about 250 grams)

· 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

· 1 cup long beans or green beans (about 150 grams), cut into 5 cm pieces

· 1/2 cup roasted peanuts, roughly chopped

· 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves

· Optional: 225 grams cooked and peeled prawns (for prawn version)

For the dressing:

· 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice

· 2 tablespoons fish sauce (or soy sauce for vegetarian/vegan option)

· 2 tablespoons palm sugar or brown sugar

· 2 cloves garlic, minced

· 2 Thai bird's eye chilies (or your regular red chillies), minced (adjust according to your spice preference)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together lime juice, fish sauce (or soy sauce), palm sugar, minced garlic, and minced chillies. Set aside to allow the flavours to meld.

2. For the prawn version: If using prawns, cook and peel them ahead of time. You can steam, boil, or saute the prawns until they turn opaque and are cooked through. Let them cool before adding them to the salad.

3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated green papaya, shredded carrots, cherry tomatoes, long beans (or green beans), and cooked prawns (if using).

4. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently to coat the ingredients evenly. Take care not to crush the vegetables.

5. Add the chopped peanuts to the salad and give it another gentle toss.

6. Transfer the salad to a serving dish or individual plates. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.

7. Serve the Som Tam Salad immediately, and enjoy the vibrant flavours and textures it offers.

Tips:

1. Adjust the level of spice by adding or reducing the amount of chillies

2. For a vegetarian or vegan version, replace fish sauce with soy sauce or a suitable vegan fish sauce substitute.

3. Feel free to customize the salad by adding other vegetables or herbs like cucumber, Thai basil, or mint.

Founded by Sajat Jain, House of Wok started off as a cloud kitchen serving in Delhi's Vasant Kunj, Greater Kailash 1, and Gurugram. Its first franchisee-owned dine-in outlet was inaugurated in Baani Square, Gurugra this year.
